Frequently asked questions
What is Colorado Contract Standings?
Free weekly standings of the companies winning contracts in Colorado: who is winning, who is rising, and which primes and agencies are buying. Every number comes from public data (USAspending.gov, SAM.gov, SBIR.gov) and links back to its source. The standings cover Department of Defense contracts today; other federal agencies are being added.
How is the momentum score calculated?
Momentum blends four signals, each ranked against other Colorado companies: 40% growth in obligated dollars (last 12 months vs. the 12 before), 30% count of new wins, 20% relationship breadth (distinct primes and agencies paying the company), and 10% how recent the latest win is. The methodology page has the full definitions.
Where does the data come from, and how often is it updated?
Prime awards and subawards come from USAspending.gov and are refreshed weekly. Company details (NAICS codes, small-business certifications, registration status) come from SAM.gov, and SBIR/STTR awards from SBIR.gov. Rankings are recalculated every Monday.
Does a company need a Colorado headquarters to be ranked?
No. Prime awards count when the work is performed in Colorado, so a company headquartered in Virginia that performs contract work in Colorado Springs is included. Subawards count when the subcontractor is based in Colorado, because USAspending.gov does not report where subaward work is performed.
My company’s numbers look wrong. What can I do?
Every figure links to its source record. Subaward data is self-reported by prime contractors and can be late or incomplete. Email us with the details and we will review it.
Is it free?
Yes. The rankings and company pages are free.

Is your company missing?
Every company here comes straight from public award data (USAspending.gov, SBIR.gov), refreshed each week. A company appears automatically once it wins contract work in Colorado (a prime contract performed here, or a subcontract as a Colorado-based business), so there is nothing to submit.
